Obituary

In loving memory of Bernard Brown who was born the son of Pearl Russell and Raymond L Brown, in
Little Rock Arkansas on October 19, 1958.
At the age of 2, Bernard relocated to Pasadena, CA. with his mother and grew up to love the culture of
this beautiful state. Growing up in Pasadena, Bernard attended Pasadena High school and graduated
with hopes of becoming a member of the United States Armed Forces. Known to plan his work and work
his plan, Bernard began serving his country in 1978 as a special forces nuclear bomb weapons specialist,
with top security clearance to many of our countries most hidden artillery sectors. While serving in the
military and stationed in Germany, Bernard met and married his first wife, and the mother of his only
blood child, Shanta Pearl Brown.
Involved in various secret orders, Bernard was always a man that enjoyed higher learning. He had a
desire to teach others and continue to grow and expand his knowledge on various topics concerning the
safety and protection of life. Based on his commitment of being a contribution to this world, Bernard
spent several years developing his craft within the Masonic Order, moving up in the ranks, exceeding the
32 nd degree of Free Masonry. Bernard also aligned himself and became a part of the Holy Shriners,
mentoring several men to become free of their spiritual and carnal limitations giving them access to
enhancing life and living with integrity.
After years of being a contribution to the world, Bernard started focusing on his civilian career. He
proceeded to become a transportation specialist for 45 years in the Pasadena area gaining certifications
and achieving accolades very early in life. With several years of experience under his belt Bernard
became the manager of the transportation company he was employed at. As a manager he met the love
of his life and wife until death did them part Arcelia Brown. The love that Arcelia and Bernie shared was
noticeably compassionate. Filled with open communication and a unique sense of authenticity Bernie
and Arcelia spent time traveling, dating frequently watching and attending football games and enjoying
the simple things of life that made them both happy. Together they moved through life’s various ups
and downs, tending to their family while in their beautiful home in Lancaster, CA.
In the wake of his life and eventual transcendence Bernard will be remembered by, His beautiful wife
Arcelia Brown in Lancaster, CA., His Step Children, Charlene, Darlene, Andrew, Matthew, Gerald Jr and
grandchild Fabian., three Sisters Cheryl, Fredia and Zabrina, four aunts Alberta Edward of Chicago, IL.,
Myrtle Clay of So Seagoville, TX., Mattie Russell of Lancaster, CA., Bobbie Russell of Toledo, OH., two
Uncles, John (Doris) Russell of Palmdale, CA., Frank Russell of Chicago, IL and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, other relatives and friends.
Bernard’s Soul transcended from this planet as an honored Veteran of the United States Military, active
United States Postal Employee, active member of the Secret Masonic Order, avid 49’ers fan, Father to
many and a husband of seven years to his wife Arcelia Brown. His physical presence will be missed, but
his soul will be cherished forever.
