Our Beloved Son Kyle

Kyle Alexander Franklin Toliva was born on June 8, 1990, in Los Angeles California to Joseph Franklin Toliva and Adlee Rae Lowery (Williams).  Kyle passed away July 18, 2018 at the age of 28.  In the words of the family, “our hearts are comforted knowing that Kyle is at peace”.

Kyle grew up in Placentia California with his sister Aja.  He attended Morse Elementary School, Kramer Middle School and Valencia High School.  He went on to graduate from St. Bernard High School in Playa Del Rey.   Kyle excelled at Track and Field, was an Actor in the school’s Theatre Group, and was also an Honor Roll student.  In his youth Kyle served as an altar boy, and as a young adult became a Lay Minister.  Kyle overcame early academic hurdles and proudly attained a bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Southern California, Class of 2015.

His working career included Kiehls, Automobile Association of Southern California, and South Western Law School. Kyle’s colorful, warm, fun and free-spirited personality captured the hearts of his colleagues, friends and those that loved him dearly.

His Co-Father Brian affectionately knew Kyle as “Big Duke” and his sister Aja also called him “Boo Boo”. Kyle took delight with these affectionate and endearing nicknames.  He adored his two younger sisters and often relied on them for advice and guidance.  Kyle cherished his family, and maintained a close and loving relationship with his Grandmothers and Mother. Those who knew him were entertained by his knowledge of random facts and he could easily recite information on many subjects.

Kyle’s Grandfathers proceeded in death: James Darnell Lowery (CD) and Lowell Eldeño Toliva.  Survived by his Grandmothers: Janet Lowery-Pickens and Aletha Virginia Toliva. Mother: Adlee Rae Williams. Step-Father: Frank Andrew Williams. Father: Joseph Franklin Toliva. Co-Father: Brian Keith Ross. Sisters: Aja La’Rae Ross and Alexa Angelina Toliva. Aunt: Lori Cecila Cooper. Kyle will be especially remembered for his quirky dry sense of humor, his infectious laugh, his caring and considerate nature, and his playful banter. He had a tenderness to love unconditionally, especially for his favorites!-
